Barbara Trafton has an extensive background in working with Maine people and communities and is pleased to offer her real estate services,her lifelong network of statewide connections, and her business expertise to clients interested in residential or commercial properties.
Barbara grew up in the Western Mountain region of Maine (Bethel, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Rumford & Mexico, Weld, and surrounding areas). She is a regular summer resident of the Penobscot Bay area and has spent time exploring and getting to know the Maine Coast from York to Cobscook Bay. For the past 30 years Barbara has lived in Auburn, where she has invested her time and efforts in strengthening and enriching the Central Maine region.
Before joining Keller Williams Realty Mid Maine in 2005, Barbara held positions as an English teacher, an Aquatics Director for the YWCA, a fundraiser for local and state non-profits, an author, and a Maine State Senator. She has a B.S. from Wellesley College, an M.S. in Education from the University of Southern Maine, and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
She has received numerous awards for her volunteer efforts from organizations including the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce, the Androscoggin United Way, and the City of Auburn. In 2002 Barbara was named Auburn's Citizen of the Year by the Auburn Business Association.
Barbara Trafton is Chair of Maine Housing, a Trustee of The Nature Conservancy's Maine Chapter, the Chair of the Garcelon Society for Bates College (which supports scholarships for local students), Chair of the Development Committe for the Auburn Public Library, Member of the Governor's Council on Quality Places, and a Director of the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce.
Barbara Trafton was named Rookie of the Year by her agency in 2006 and asked to serve on the Agency's Leadership Council. In 2007 she was named to the agency's Silver Circle for sales production over $3 million dollars. She currently holds an Associate Broker's license and is a member of Maine Association of Realtors , Maine Commercial Association of Realtors and Maine Real Estate and Development Association.
